Change Team:
Total Turf Team PRACTICE
by posted 04/19/2021

Hi Everyone!  Coach Andrew here!  Hope everyone had a great weekend and had so much fun at our first T-Ball game this past Saturday.

So while the games are great and allow for the kids to continue to learn the game in that setting, I'd love to look to schedule some practice time each week to allow the kids more time learning the game, practicing their skills, and just having fun.  The field at Katonah Park (near the Katonah Pool) is open every Wednesday for us, so we'll look to schedule about an hour then.

I know all parents have different schedules when it comes to each evening, so please know this is just for fun and by no means mandatory.  For this week, I am going to plan on being at the Park a bit before 5pm, and we'll look to practice for about an hour.  I will have a full agenda for the team each week.

Please do let me know if you can attend - siblings are welcome, as long as they add to the learning experience and HAVE FUN! :)

Any questions, please let me know!

Hi Everyone!  Apologies for the late email, but I thought it was necessary to get this out to all parents before the week starts tomorrow morning.

First and most importantly, if you are receiving this email, your son or daughter is a member of BHK Little League and on TEAM TOTAL TURF.  My name is Andrew Captan and I will be the head coach for the team this spring.  My son, Maddox Captan, will be on the team.  I believe most of you know me, but to those that don't, I am looking forward to meeting you this weekend at the team's first game on Saturday at 9am.

Next, given the unusual times, there are a few things your son or daughter will need on gameday this weekend.  First, a glove!  I suggest a 10" youth glove at the biggest for most 5 and 6 year old kids.  Everyone needs their own glove.  Next, everyone needs their OWN HELMET AND BAT.  This is solely because of covid restrictions, so if anyone wants to split a bat or helmet use, you can - just let me know that everyone is on the same page.  Otherwise, please get your own bat and helmet.  They can be ordered on Amazon or Dick's and will be in Katonah before the weekend.  For a bat, get something light and short - best bet is a 24 inch, 12 oz. aluminum bat.  Make sure it is USA baseball certified.  For a helmet, get something in the 6.5 to 7.5 inch range.  If the helmet is too big, your child can wear their baseball cap underneath it.  I got Maddox an Adidas Captain helmet, size Junior.  Please also make sure to buy the face mask/cage as well.  There is no pitching in this league, but everyone needs a cage on their helmet at this age.  Please know that I will also have clorox wipes at the field and that we can wipe down anything that needs to be shared as needed.

Ultimately, please know that this is going to be a super fun season and I hope everyone is ready to learn to love this amazing game!  Baseball is my first real love and I cannot wait to express this passion with all of our kids.  With that in mind, I will really need all of your help to make this season the best it could be.  I'll be looking for 2 or so volunteers to help as needed so please let me know if you're interested. I'll also be looking to schedule an hour long practice each week starting the week after the first game - more to come on that front in the coming days.

If there are any questions about anything at all, please let me know!  Otherwise I am looking forward to seeing you all at the game this upcoming Saturday.

All the best!!
Andrew Captan
